What Will NOT Happen on September 16, 2026
Your ISO 9001:2015 certificate does not expire. Publication of ISO 9001:2026 does not invalidate any existing ISO 9001:2015 certificate. Your certificate remains fully valid until the end of the transition period.
You cannot get certified to ISO 9001:2026 immediately. Certification bodies must first be accredited to the new standard. The first ISO 9001:2026 certificates are expected around August 2027.
You do not need to update your QMS documentation immediately. There is no regulatory requirement to update your QMS documentation on publication day. You have three years to complete the transition.
